Although some believe they require just food and water, much more is involved. Love, companionship and care promotes life long happiness. Stop by the shelter and speak to one of our staff members about the things you are looking for in a pet. They will ask you questions about your home environment, family members and pets in the home to determine if a particular breed or adoptable animal at the Shelter might suit you. You can take a pet into a holding area to spend some time with it or possibly bring it outdoors (usually dogs on a leash). Please listen carefully to our staff for tips and advice as well as recommendations while you are getting acquainted with some of the animals. If you feel there is a match, you can take your new pet home after reading, understanding and ageeing to the terms contained in our adoption agreement. These include proper care, feeding, and medical care as well as compliance with all laws applicable in your area of residence. We also advise that you check with your landlord before looking for a pet. And remember, because all of our pets must be spayed or neutered, you will be helping the pet overpopulation problem. You can't get a nice pet any cheaper AND you are providing a home for an orphaned animal. Please call the Calcasieu Parish Animal Services & Adoption Center if you have any questions. Adoption Fees It is the highest priority of the Calcasieu Parish Animal Services & Adoption Center to adopt out healthy and behaviorally sound animals to our caring community. Our adoption fees help to offset the cost of evaluation, housing, feeding and medical care for the thousands of animals that need our help. We do our best to keep our adoption prices reasonable while generating income to support our goal of caring for adoptable animals until we can place them in a loving home. Donations subsidize the gap between the cost for care and the adoption fee. It is only through the generosity of our donors that we have the resources to help so many animals and hold them until we can find a home.. |
